Nestled in the heart of Battle Creek, MI, Old China Super Buffet offers a vibrant all-you-can-eat dining experience that marries classic American-style Chinese cuisine with an impressive variety of options to satisfy every craving. Located conveniently at 2580 Capital Ave SW, this buffet restaurant invites diners to indulge in an extensive spread that goes well beyond the typical fare.
The moment you step inside Old China Super Buffet, you are met with a charmingly nostalgic ambiance that harks back to a simpler era—one where the focus was on generous portions and comforting flavors. As one satisfied guest noted, the atmosphere might feel like time paused in the ’80s, but this retro vibe only adds to its unique character and approachable warmth.
The real star here, of course, is the food. Whether you're a devoted fan of sushi, crave the crispy crunch of Crab Rangoon and Egg Rolls, or prefer the hearty satisfaction of Buffet Plates loaded with Mac & Cheese, Long Green Beans, and Salmon, you’ll find a dish for every mood. The buffet selections encompass a delicious spectrum: from savory shrimp with mixed vegetable combos (杂菜虾套餐) and flavorful Cajun seafood to classic favorites like General TSO’s Chicken, Sesame Chicken, and Sweet and Sour Chicken.
Sensory delights abound—the juicy, crispy textures of fried zucchini and chicken wings; the rich, warm embrace of hot, seasoned broths like Wonton, Hot & Sour, and Egg Drop soup; and the refreshing crispness of a Salad Bar stacked with fresh fruit and vibrant greens. No visit is complete without sampling the thoughtfully prepared Egg Foo Young varieties, or savoring unique offerings such as frog legs that add an adventurous touch.
What truly sets Old China Super Buffet apart is not only the breadth of choices but the quality behind them. While it embraces the quick, casual style typical of buffet dining, the flavors are never compromised. As James Pfister aptly observed, you won’t find ultra-traditional dishes here, but you can expect consistently satisfying renditions of the classic American-Chinese flavors we all know and love. Meanwhile, regulars like Betty Hankins praise the attentive, friendly staff who ensure the buffet stays fresh and inviting throughout your meal.
For those planning group gatherings or parties, the restaurant’s party tray specials offer convenient and crowd-pleasing selections at reasonable prices—ranging from Beef with Broccoli and Teriyaki Chicken to Chicken Wings and Vegetable Lo Mein. These options make catering a breeze without sacrificing taste.
In sum, Old China Super Buffet is a welcoming haven for diners seeking hearty portions, dependable comfort food, and a variety of flavors to explore—all served up with friendly hospitality. Whether you’re stopping by for a midweek meal or a weekend feast, this Battle Creek gem takes a classic approach and elevates it with care, making it a beloved destination worth returning to again and again.
It's a classic buffet style place. So you won't get really traditional food or anything, but everything is a quality version of the fast American kind of Chinese food we all expect.
Old China Buffet isn’t the kind of place you pass by and think, “Oh yeah, I want to eat there.” From the outside and honestly inside too it looks like time stopped in the 80s, but that actually adds a certain charm. The food, on the other hand, was delicious. Their salt-and-pepper chicken was a bomb, the ribs were amazing, the black pepper beef was super good, and the lo mein was excellent too. The chicken skewers and variety of vegetables were also really tasty. There are tons of different food options. It’s family-owned, and the best part? It’s super affordable, $46 for three people? you can't beat that! If I’m in the area again, I’ll definitely be stopping by
This is my second time to this place the food is phenomenal. The staff is very friendly and personable, and they are on it. If something goes low on the buffet they are right there with fresh hot food filling it.
